The Yamazaki 55 Years Old
THE YAMAZAKI IS 55 YEARS OLD.
In its much anticipated first release of the Yamazaki 55, the House of Suntory pays tribute to the passage of time. In Showa 38 (1963), Kotobukiya was renamed Suntory after Keizo Saji succeeded his father, founder Shinjiro Torii, as the House’s Second Generation Master Blender. Keizo was charged to bring his father’s dream to life, creating not only quality liquid gold but a quintessentially Japanese experience and lifestyle that rooted Suntory Whisky as the people’s choice.
Today, the House of Suntory is not only regarded as one of the most awarded distillers but as a House that has consistently introduced Japanese Whisky as a cultural experience to the world. Learn More
PRICE OF YAMAZAKI 55 YEARS OLD
The ultra-luxury airport retail segment looks alive and well based on bids for a very exclusive bottle of Yamazaki 55 Years Old whisky. The auction reached €675,000 ($788,000) at a wine and spirits store dedicated to high-end products at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport—with just a few days left.
The current bid is on par with the world record-breaking price fetched in August 2020 at a Bonhams rare wine and whisky sale in Hong Kong.
The Dutch airport store, called ExQuisite and run by Schiphol Airport Retail, has just one bottle of Yamazaki 55 available—and it made the smart decision to run an auction given that it is the oldest single malt whisky in the history of the house of Suntory, and is in high worldwide demand. However, you can buy the Yamazaki 55 years today for less than 100000 Euros at collectablewhiski.com.
